The center for Health Economics and Policy was established in October 2009. It is the Key Laboratory of Health Technology Assessment (Xiamen University)，Fujian Province University.

There are 28 faculty and staff members in the center including 16 professors, 4 associate professors and 4 assistant professors. They are from different schools and colleges of Xiamen University. Each member is an expert in certain research field, such as Biomedicine, Health Statistics, Data Mining, Econometrics, Hospital Management, Health Economics, Public Health, Disease Control and Prevention, Software Engineering, Health Information Construction and other related fields. And the Director of the center is Professor Fang Ya.

It has three main research interests:

1. Statistical method and its application in biomedicine. (Including data mining, statistical methods, mathematical modeling)

2. Health technology assessment. (Including theory and method, software development)

3. The evaluation of health economics and policy. (Including effect evaluation，health promotion, comparative research on cross-strait health policy)

The center has obtained 20 funds of various levels for scientific research including National natural science fund, the ministry of health, the ministry of education, the international federation of fund, provincial natural science foundation, the province social science fund etc.

It offers courses for undergraduate and graduate students including Advanced Health Statistics, Medical Statistics, Application of statistical software (SPSS,SAS ) in Biomedical Research,  Medical Demography, Health Economics, Health Policy, Health service Administration, Public Health Advocacy and Tobacco Control etc. 

Currently, there are 16 graduate students studying in the center and 8 students were graduated.
